Traditionnel Pontarlier Uncut Absinthe Glass & 10 Sugar Cubes Perhaps the most popular antique absinthe glass on the market today is the legendary Pontarlier glass. While there were many variations from the pre-ban era (before 1915 when absinthe was banned in France), this style is considered the quintessential traditional Pontarlier absinthe glass. This glass was made famous, and originally named, after it appeared in an advertisement for the #1 absinthe producer of the time - Pernod Fils. The ... moreadvertising print showed Pernod Fils' hometown newspaper from Pontarlier, France, laid across a table next to a bottle of Pernod and two glasses (see above photo). Through a nationwide marketing campaign, this print was sent to bars all over France, adding to the recognition of the Pontarlier glass. The Pontarlier glass became synonymous with absinthe. This glass is made to the same measurements as an original Pontarlier absinthe glass, including the reservoir. The reservoir (located at the bottom of the glass) is used to measure the amount of absinthe to be added for that sized glass. This measured dose aided the bartender in knowing the exact amount of absinthe to pour. the reservoir also helps the customer know it is an honest pour. The size of the reservoir generally correlates with the size of the glass being used, as water to absinthe ratios vary by the drinker (typically 3 to 5 parts water, to 1 part absinthe). The reservoir measures 25 ml (.8 oz), which is standard for an absinthe glass of this size. Purchase includes glass and sugar only. Other items in photos are not included. Mouthblown thick, heavy glass.Measures 3.375" (8.6 cm) in diameter x 5.25" (14.6 cm) in height.Glass holds 9 fl oz (26.6 cl).Reservoir holds approximately .85 fl oz (25 ml).Imported.Made by Bonnecaze. Also included in the purchase are European wrapped sugar cubes. Sugar was almost always used in preparing a traditional French/Swiss absinthe during the pre-ban era (before 1915). Meaning, it was added to absinthe by pouring (or dripping) cold water onto the sugar, allowing it to dissolve before falling into the high alcohol content absinthe. And because the amount of sugar added was determined by the drinker, like adding sugar to coffee. Some prefer more or less than others. Absinthe is always made to one's own liking. Lady Absinthe Fountain with Wings, 2 Spout Although not a reproduction of a vintage Belle Epoque absinthe fountain, this Lady Fountain with Wings is perhaps our most popular of all fountains. The top cover has the classic "acorn" top and is removable to add ice water into the glass bowl. The glass bowl is mouth blown and the fountains are hand made, chrome plating over brass. Fountain has two metal faucets, accommodating one to two glasses at the same time. Absinthe fountains were mostly used in ... morehigh-end bars because of their expensive price tag. Jura Absinthe Glasses, set of 2 & 10 Sugar Cubes These stylish, mouth blown absinthe glasses would be a wonderful addition to any absintheur's collection. The glass features a nice, clean look and open reservoir, making it easy to watch the louching process. This glass is exact reproduction of an original late 19th and early 20th century absinthe bar glass used throughout France and Switzerland. The glass has a pronounced reservoir which served a dual purpose. One, it showed the bartender the precise ... moreamount to pour for that size glass, and secondly, to let the customer know he was getting an accurate pour. The glass was then given to the customer and the absinthe was prepared by the customer. Just as it was done over 100 years ago, as it is today, when a drink order is placed at a bar the bartender makes the drink and gives it to the patron. This was never the case with absinthe. An absinthe was never made by the bartender. He would only have filled the reservoir in the absinthe glass with absinthe, then given to the customer for him to prepare himself. The amount of water and sugar used was always left to the discretion on the drinker, and solely dependent upon one's own taste. This one thing separates absinthe from any other alcohol drink. It is also the reason for the many different types of accoutrements used to prepare a traditional absinthe.Purchase includes 2 glasses. Mouth-blown glass.Measures approximately 5.5" (14 cm) tall.Mouth measures approximately 3.25" (8.2 cm) in diameter.Foot measures approximately 3.125" (7.9 cm) in diameter.Holds approximately 9 floz (265 ml).Imported.Made by Bonnecaze. Because of the high proof of alcohol in absinthe, sugar cannot dissolve in absinthe without first being dissolved with water. This is done by first filling the reservoir of an absinthe glass, then placing a slotted absinthe spoon across the rim of the the glass, and a piece of sugar a top the spoon. Cold water is then slowly dripped onto the sugar cube and the sugary mixture falls into the glass of absinthe. It is common to add more water and/or sugar if needed. Crafted by La Rochere, a French glass works company founded in 1475. Each glass is cast from original molds dating back to the early 1900′s. One of the popular glass styles used to serve Absinthe throughout Europe prior to the ban, these lovely Pontarlier Absinthe glasses each hold 10 fluid ounces. At the base, a one ounce reservoir helps to portion your Absinthe during preparation. Traditionally Absinthe is enjoyed at a one to 3-5 ounce ratio (one once of Absinthe to 3-5 ounces of chilled filtered ... more/ distilled water). The drink can be prepared with or without a single sugar cube to taste. Also included in this sale is a reproduction of the Les Feuilles d’Absinthe Wormwood spoon from around the turn of the century. Often described as the most beautiful Absinthe spoon design, this elegant reproduction of the Les Feuilles d’Absinthe spoon features intertwined Wormwood leaves with a curled ribbon design. An essential accessory to any Absinthe ritual. Length: 6 inchesFinish: Chrome / SteelFeatures: The edges of the spoon are curled up to prevent the sugar cube from falling off.The spoons handle features a ridge that helps to cradle it in place onto of a glass. The base of the handle has a slightly serrated edge on the one side, designed to help split a sugar cube in two if desired. The tip of the spoon is stylized to easily fit into the reservoir of a Pontarlier glass ensuring that your prepared beverage is thoroughly stirred.

Cordon Absinthe Glasses without Cuts, Set of 4, B-Stock These mouth-blown Cordon Glasses are exact replicas of well-known 19th century absinthe bar glasses. The glasses are considered by many to be the one of the most sought after and collectible of all absinthe glasses. The glass is aptly named as the band (which circles the glass and indicates the dose measuring mark) resembles a cord (cordon in French). This glass is exact reproduction of an original late 19th and early 20th century absinthe ... morebar glass used throughout France and Switzerland. The glass has a pronounced reservoir which served a dual purpose. One, it showed the bartender the precise amount to pour for that size glass, and secondly, to let the customer know he was getting an accurate pour. It is also the reason for the many different types of accoutrements used to prepare a traditional absinthe. ALL FOUR (4) OF THESE GLASSES HAVE MINOR DEFECTS OR IMPERFECTIONS AND ARE BEING SOLD AS SUCH. THE IMPERFECTIONS COULD INCLUDE SMALL SCRATCHES, UNEVEN RIM (MOUTH), OR NON-PROPORTIONAL DOSE RESERVOIR, AMONG OTHER MINOR ISSUES. THE STATE OF GLASSES SHOWN IN THE PHOTO ABOVE MAY NOT BE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE QUALITY OF GLASSES PURCHASED. BECAUSE EACH GLASS IS MOUTH-BLOWN, THERE ARE SOMETIMES ERRORS MADE IN THE FACTORY. THESE PROBLEMS OCCASIONALLY CREATE GLASSES THAT CANNOT BE SOLD AS A-STOCK OR IN PERFECT CONDITION. THIS IS A GOOD OPPORTUNITY TO STOCK-UP ON ABSINTHE GLASSES AT AN INCREDIBLE PRICE, WHILE SUPPLIES LAST.Purchase includes 4 B-stock glasses. Pontarlier Absinthe Glasses, Set of 2, with Gift Box These mouth-blown, reproduction Pontarlier absinthe glasses are now available in a high-quality gift box. The outside box top and 2 sides are embossed, and feature silver foil-stamped printing. This makes for a rich, shiny finish on a black background. Perhaps the most popular antique absinthe glass on the market today is the legendary Pontarlier glass. While there were many variations from the pre-ban era (before 1915 when absinthe was banned ... morein France), this style is considered the quintessential traditional Pontarlier absinthe glass. These glasses were made famous, and originally named, after they appeared in an advertisement for the #1 absinthe producer of its time, Pernod Fils. The wall print featured the brand's hometown newspaper from Pontarlier, France laid across a table next to a bottle and glass of Pernod Fils (see above photo). Through a nationwide marketing campaign, this print was sent to bars all over France, only adding to the recognition of the Pontarlier glass. The Pontarlier glass became synonymous with this print. This glass is made to the same specifications as an traditional Pontarlier absinthe glass, including its reservoir. The reservoir is the bottom area of the glass used to measure the amount of absinthe to be added. Besides aiding a bartender by helping them to know the exact amount of absinthe to pour, the reservoir also helps the customer know it is an honest pour. The size of the reservoir generally correlates with the size of the glass being used, as water to absinthe ratios vary by the drinker (typically 3 to 5 parts water, to 1-part absinthe). The reservoir measures 25 ml (.8 oz), which is standard for an absinthe glass of this size. Purchase includes glasses and gift box only. Other items in photos are not included. Gift Box measures 8.125" (20.6 cm) x 8.125" (20.6 cm) x 3.75" (9.5 cm). Set of two (2) Pontarlier glasses. Machine molded, thick, heavy glass.Measures 3.375" (8.6 cm) in diameter x 5.25" (14.6 cm) in height.Glass holds 9 fl oz (26.6 cl).Reservoir holds approximately .85 fl oz (25 ml).Imported. Coupe Absinthe Glass & 10 Sugar Cubes This reproduction glass is one of the most interesting of all antique absinthe glasses. Although it resembles a French Champagne glass, this glass was made specifically for use with absinthe. This glass is made to the same measurements as an original Coupe glass, including its reservoir. The reservoir is the bottom area of the glass used to measure the amount of absinthe to be added. Besides aiding a bartender by helping them to know the exact amount of absinthe ... moreto pour, the reservoir also helps the customer know it is an honest pour. The size of the reservoir generally correlates with the size of the glass being used, as water to absinthe ratios vary by the drinker (typically 3 to 5 parts water, to 1-part absinthe). This glass' reservoir measures 25 ml (.8 oz), which is standard for an absinthe glass of this size. Purchase includes glass and sugar only. Other items in photos are not included.Machine molded glass.Measures 3.375" (8.6 cm) in diameter x 5.25" (14.6 cm) in height.Glass holds 8 fl oz (23.6 cl).Reservoir holds approximately .8 fl oz (25 ml).Imported.Made by Bonnecaze. Also included in the purchase are 10 European wrapped sugar cubes. Purchase includes 10 cubes (5 packets). Each packet includes two (2) individually wrapped sugar cubes. Packets measure 1.25" long x 5/8" wide x 3/8" high. White, medium fine beet sugar. Brouilleur Coupe (dripper) with 1 Hole & 10 Sugar Cubes This stainless steel water dripper is an exact reproduction of an original 19th century French Coupe and is used as a single server to add water and sugar to a traditional French or Swiss absinthe. This coupe features 1 hole in its bottom for the water to drain into the glass of absinthe. If using sugar cubes, placing the sugar inside the coupe and then adding water or ice will help slow down the rate at which the water drips through the hole. ... moreWe also offer a coupe with 3 holes, which will allow a quicker drain. A dose of absinthe (approximately 1 oz) is first poured into a glass and the dripper is sat a top its rim. A sugar cube (or cubes) it placed inside at the bottom of the dripper. Water is then added inside the coupe either by placing ice inside or slowly pouring, or dripping, water with a carafe. The sugary-water mixture will pass at varied rates through its small hole and into the glass of absinthe. This begins to release oils within the absinthe and perfume the air. The rate in which the water will flow through the dripper is solely dependent upon the person preparing the absinthe, and how fast or slow the water is added. There is no set rules to how a traditional absinthe is made - it is always made to one's taste. General guidelines are, however, 1 part absinthe to 3 to 5 parts water. Bubble Absinthe Glass & 10 Sugar Cubes One of the rarest of all absinthe glasses, this reproduction bubble glass is a must have for any absintheur. Absinthe is poured into the reservoir until full. Cold sugar-water is then slowly added to the glass, whether with sugar (the traditional method) or without. Because water is heavier than absinthe, when the water enters the reservoir it slowly forces the absinthe out and into the upper, larger part of the glass. Each glass is made in the same proportions ... moreas the original, including the reservoir. Great way to watch the louching process. Exact reproductions. Glass holds approximately 12 oz (.35 liters). Mouth-blown glass. Imported. Made by Bonnecaze. Because of the high proof of alcohol, sugar will not dissolve in absinthe without first being dissolved with water. It is for this reason that water is slowly dripped onto a sugar cube which then enables the sugar water to mix more easily with the absinthe. Besides the French being known for having a big sweet tooth, the sugar is also used to cut the bitterness of absinthe. It was highly frowned upon to drink absinthe without sugar during the pre-ban era. ~ These sugar cubes are the perfect size for sweetening your absinthe. ~ Packets include two (2) individually wrapped sugar cubes. Purchase includes 10 cubes (5 packets). Packets measure 1.25" long x 5/8" wide x 3/8" high. White, medium fine beet sugar. Imported from Europe. Made by Bonnecaze.Ships 1 in business day after payment is made. (additional fees may be required for Hawaii and Alaska) We happily ship WORLDWIDE !!! Be sure to add me to your favorites list!

By turning the fountain's spigot the amount of liquid can vary from a slow drip to a gentile pour. The fountain is made of light-weight Borosilicate Glass. Cordon Absinthe Glasses without Cuts, Set of 2 & 10 Sugar Cubes These mouth-blown Cordon Glasses are exact replicas of well-known 19th century absinthe bar glasses. Clear, mouth-blown glasses.Measures approximately 7" (17.5 cm) tall.Mouth measures approximately 3.25" (8.2 cm) in diameter.Foot measures approximately 3" (7.8 cm) in diameter.Reservoir holds approximately 1 fl oz (30.5 ml).Holds approximately 11 fl oz (325 ml).Made and imported by Bonnecaze. Besides the French being known for having a sweet tooth, it was highly frowned upon to drink absinthe without sugar during the pre-ban era (before1915). These sugar cubes are the perfect size for sweetening your absinthe. Purchase includes 5 packets (10 cubes). Packets include two (2) individually wrapped sugar cubes. Brouilleur Coupe (dripper) with 3 Holes & 10 Sugar Cubes This stainless steel water dripper is an exact reproduction of an original 19th century French Coupe and is used as a single server to add water and sugar to a traditional French or Swiss absinthe. This coupe features 3 holes in its bottom for the water to drain into the glass of absinthe. If using sugar cubes, placing the sugar inside the coupe and then adding water or ice will help slow down the rate at which the water drips through the ... moreholes. We also offer a coupe with 1 hole, which will allow for the water to drain even slower. A dose of absinthe is first poured into a glass and the dripper is sat a top its rim. A sugar cube (or cubes) it placed inside at the bottom of the dripper. Cold water is then slowly poured or dripped, with a carafe, into the dish allowing the sugary-water mixture to fall through its 4 small holes and into the glass of absinthe. This begins to release oils within the absinthe and perfume the air. The rate in which the water will flow through the dripper is solely dependent upon the person preparing the absinthe, and how fast or slow the water is added. In general - the slower, the better. There is no set proportion in preparing a traditional absinthe, it is always made to one's taste. General guidelines are, however, 1 part absinthe to 3 to 5 parts water. Crisp, good quality absinthe spoon, Les Fleches #3, circa 1900, with the maker's mark of struck in the rear corner of the blade. I cannot quite make it out, but it may be the letters C and L on either side of an anchor. This one is unusual in the there is a minor error iin the making: one of the small trefles at the trip end is missing. There is only one whereas there should be two. The spoon is 174mm in length and of fairly heavy metal, not one of the thin ones you encounter from later years. These ... morespoons were placed over a glass with a sugar cube on top, and the water was poured over the cube to reduce the bitterness of the absinthe. This is guaranteed to be a period absinthe spoon from a French bar; it is not one of the many reproductions which are being sold on the Internet. It is in very good condition, showing just some light signs of use. I personally like the absinthe spoons that show some wear because it helps distinguish them from the ubiquitous copies. Length is 159 mm. We will be listing a number of genuine absinthe era items over time. The spoon identifications are based on the definitive book, L'Absinthe: Les Cuillères, by Marie-Claude Delahaye. Returns are accepted if there is a significant error in our description. Item must be in same condition as when shipped. If we have offered free shipping, the cost of shipping will be deducted from the refund. We are sorry but we do not accept bids from buyers with no feedback or negative feedback unless cleared with us beforehand. We also request international buyers to check with us before bidding unless we have indicated that international shipping to their nation is being offered. Thank you for looking at our item. Payment is expected within 2 days of the end of the auction. We always ship as soon as possible after receipt of payment. (D044)

Scarce pair of hand-blown absinthe glasses with etched dose marks. These date from around 1900 or very early in 1900's before absinthe was banned in 1915. I like these glasses with the dose marks because they demonstrate that they were used for a drink that was diluted, as absinthe was with water. Genuine handblown absinthe period glasses used in French bars and restaurants are getting very difficult to find; we have very few left. These are the type known as Yvonne glasses. They are hand-blown: ... moreyou can see where the pontil marks were polished off. Beause they are hand-made, there are slight variations in the thickness of the glass, the height, etc., but they came together and were obviously part of a set. They measure about 7 inches tall. There is a small chip on the base of one, but it is very smooth, indicating that it occurred quite some time ago. A closeup of the chip can be seen intwo photos on the lower right side. It really does not detract from the utility or attractiveness of the glasses. Returns are accepted if there is a significant error in our description. Item must be in same condition as when shipped. Gold-plated Swiss Cross Absinthe Spoon & 10 Absinthe Sugar Cubes This reproduction absinthe spoon originated in Switzerland, the birthplace of absinthe. Besides the cross in the middle of the grille representing the national emblem of Switzerland (a predominate feature in their flag), the Swiss cross is more importantly known as a sign of quality in the absinthe world. This cut-out cross allows the sugar and water to drop easily into the glass of absinthe. This spoon is used in the preparation of ... morea traditional French or Swiss absinthe. A traditional absinthe is prepared by pouring an ounce of absinthe into an absinthe glass, then placing the absinthe spoon on top of the glass and a sugar cube atop the spoon. Ice water is slowly dripped from a fountain, carafe or balancier onto the piece of sugar. The cold sugar water then drips from the spoon into the glass of absinthe releasing oils and perfuming the air with fennel, grand wormwood and anise. The combination also begins to turn milky white in color, as the water mixes with the anise.Measures 6.5" (16.6 cm) in length.Gold plated. Will not tarnish.Dishwasher safe. Imported. ~ These sugar tablets are the perfect size for sweetening your absinthe. ~Packets include two (2) individually wrapped sugar cubes.Purchase includes 10 cubes (5 packets).Packets measure 1.25" long x 5/8" wide x 3/8" high.White, medium fine beet sugar.White text on green wrapper.Imported from Europe.Made by Bonnecaze. Really unusual antique Bohemian absinthe server has hinged lid with interior section for small decanter and 1 ounce shot glasses for the substance. It was cold painted. And much of the exterior and interior cold paint has worn off. The lady's face on the top was charming(tho not really well done) and when I went to wipe off the dust, her face came off as well(too much absinthe? Anyway, I've tried to show the evident flaws in the photos- please look, and the glasses are all damaged- two with chiggers and the other two with chips. Could be restored if you like, but has charm in it's present state. Measures 11 1/2" tall and 6 1/2" wide at widest point. Hand blown glass has brass inlay. Certainly has some history behind it! Beautiful! Nice cuts 7 1/4" high. Mouth is 3" wide. Very minimal wear on bottom from being on table/bar very minimal wear on lip. EXCELLENT condition. This is a great collector's item.
