Queen Charlotte & King George III Marriage & Coronation - 1761 British Magazine (Note: additional images are located below the description) Shown is an original & historic old magazine, offered to enhance your collectible interest: THE GENTLEMANS MAGAZINE, London, August & September, 1761 (a two issue set) * Princess Charlotte Of Mecklemberg & King George III * Marriage & Coronation in an authentic British publication * Charlotte becomes 1st Black Royal (?) - see note below The August issue has: ... moredetails, songs, and plates related to the marriage and Coronation of William III and Charlotte, Princess Mecklemberg. Also included is a detailed historical account (taking nearly 8 pages) of the Coronation of King James II and Queen Mary, from 1685, which mentions their Coronation being used as the precedent for the coming Coronation. Articles included welcome the soon to be Queen, and mention of her pending arrival. Plates called for include a foldout print showing a representation of the ensuing Coronation Procession, which includes 5 rows of various royalty and others, with the "King & Queen" noted at the beginning, all labeled as to their titles (see images), and a second print showing an exact representation of the Royal Vestments in which the King is crowned. Note: Although called for in the August issue, they are typically either lacking, or present in the September issue. The September issue has: a great & lengthy report titled: "An Account of the Preparations for the Coronation and for the Reception of the Queen," which is on the historic coronation of King George III. This report takes 8 pages and includes the: "Procession to the Coronation," "Procession of the King and Queen from the Chapel," and another portion headed, "Coronation of His Majesty." Several letters to both King George III and Queen Charlotte are provided, along with their responses. A poem is included as tribute to the intended marriage, along with other related mentions. Unrelated articles within the August issue include: "Account of the Loss of the Litchfield," "Query, Whether Lightening does not Ripen Corn," "The Case of an Unfortunate Stranger," "...the engagement on the 15th & 16th of July, at the Village of Filingshausen," and more. Near the back is the "Historical Chronicle" which has various news reports of the day which includes two brief mentions of New York and Canada. The entire back page is a chart of: "Each Days Price of Stocks in August, 1761". Unrelated articles within the September issue include: "Humorous Piece of Voltaire called a Prophecy," "New Method of Producing Cold by Evaporation," "Success Against the Cherokees," and more. The entire bkpg. is taken up with a chart headed: "Each Days Price of Stocks in September, 1761". Both issues are complete in 46 pgs. (each), contain the full title/index page, measure 5 by 8 inches, have never been trimmed, and are in very nice condition. Note: Although she is not formally recognized as such, research has produced evidence that Queen Charlotte may have been the first Black Royal, of mixed-race descent. A spokesperson for the Monarch was recently quoted as saying, in regards to this possibility: "This has been rumored for years and years. It is a matter of history, and frankly, weve got far more important things to talk about." Please Note: All of our offerings are 100% authentic! We do not offer reprints or reproductions of any kind. 1784 Map of Asia & North America - Captain James Cook - Original & Historic (Note: additional images are located below the description) Shown is an original & historic map from within a 1784 publication, offered to enhance your collectible interest: SUPPLEMENT TO THE UNIVERSAL MAGAZINE, London, 1784 * Map of North America (north west coast) and Asia (north eat coast) * Captain James Cook - 1778 & 1779 This "supplemental" issue produced at the end of the year begins with a nearly 6 page article: ... more"A Summary Account of the Various Advantages Resulting from the Voyages of Discovery, Undertaken & Performed during the Present Reign: With an Accurate Chart of the N.W. Coast of America, and N.E. Coast of Asia, as Explored by the Captains Cook and Clerke in the Years 1778 and 1779." This lengthy article has considerable detail on the famed Captain Cooks exploration of this part of the world. Certainly the best feature is the very nice foldout map of the region titled: "Chart of the N.W. Coast of America and N.E. Coast of Asia, Explored by Capt. Cook and Capt. Clerke..." showing from close to what is Sitka, Alaska, today up the coast and out to the Aleutian Islands plus the Bering Straight, as well as the eastern coast of present-day Siberia (see). This map folds out to 11 by 18 inches, has an archival repair at one fold which has some minor map loss (see), otherwise is in nice condition. Also of interest is: "An Accurate List of the Various Aerostatic Voyages", or the earliest of the balloon flights, by Montgolfier & others. Complete in 50 pages, 5 1/4 by 8 1/4 inches, disbound without the outer wrapper (typical) so no formal title-date page, very nice condition. Included is a copy of the appropriate page from the book "Map of America in Periodicals Before 1800" by D. C. Jolly, verifying the date as the Supplement for 1784. Please Note: All of our offerings are 100% authentic! We do not offer reprints or reproductions of any kind. They are guaranteed to be original! This Eric Clapton Collection would make a wonderful girf for a Baby Boomer who would enjoy a stroll down memory lane. See enlarged picture. Collection includes"Crossroads. The Live and Music of ERIC CLAPTON" by Michael Schumacher(Citadel Press, Paperback, 2003) It is a delightfully candid biography which I have read several times& thoroughly enjoyed. The condition of the book is very good with no rips. Tears, stains, writing of any kind plus the spine is square& true. There are some light gray streaks on the lower right side of the front cover which is part of the photograph showing light reflecting off Clapton's black leather coat. There are 341 pages of text& 17 black-and-white photos. Synopsis While Eric Clapton has achieved superstar status in the world of music. His personal life has often been a stormy one. In the mid-1960s Clapton was hailed as England's premier guitar hero for his incendiary contributions to the Yardbirds and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. ... moreHowever, he struggled to find an artistic direction after the 1968 breakup of the supergroup Cream, the band he had formed with bassist Jack Bruce and drummer Ginger Baker in 1966, and for some years was an alcohol and heroin addict. Despite the combination of this and a tumultuous love life, he had great commercial success with a succession of solo albums over the next two decades. CROSSROADS, Michael Schumacher's expertly researched and chattily written biography, focuses equally on the guitarist's personal and professional life, recounting Clapton's tragedies and triumphs, from the death of his son Conor to the success of 1991's UNPLUGGED album. Including valuable album-by-album analysis of Clapton's recorded output, Schumacher traces his musical development from the callow blues enthusiast of the early'60s to rock& roll elder statesman, with the help of revealing and informative interviews with many of the artist's former musical associates. Collection includes Me& Mr. Johnson CD(Wa

Sir Robert de Bures 1302- Acton. Suffolk England Dimensions of whole product Height in inches: 12 Width in inches: 6 Solid/heavy The earliest period of armour to be illustrated by engravers. The figure is clad entirely in chain mail with a fabric surcoat tied at the waist. Over this a belt supports a heavy sword. He wears decorated leather knee cops and pointed spurs. The burrs on the shield are a pun on his name, made from a different sheet of metal from the rest of the brass, perhaps the memorial was first made for someone else and the shield substituted later. In 1314 Sir Robert had a charter of'free warren' conferring hunting rights on his manor in Suffolk. His son. Andrew succeeded to the title in 1331. A lovely old item for the collector.
